Case Study

Greenwich Housing Authority-Quarry Knoll

Quarry Knoll II is an elderly low income housing apartment complex. There are three apartment buildings with a community building. There are a total of 40 units built in 1977.

The design intent is façade replacement and roof reconstruction. The entire look of each building has been transformed by adding new roof trusses, changing the roof pitch and adding new entry porches.

Due to the budget constraints, one key component of the design has been to accommodate the existing horizontal leaders that direct the storm water from the roof into the underground storm water collection system. They were originally designed to minimize excavation around the building.
