Case Study

Bridgeport Mutual Housing-Yale Street Commons

Opened in 1998 in the West End of Bridgeport at 100 Yale Street, these 44 townhouse style units were developed by Mutual Housing of Southwestern Connecticut as affordable multi-family units. The two and three story units have garages, private entries, large storage and community and recreation rooms.

This development on the site of an abandoned automobile dealership is part of the renaissance of the Lindencroft Historic District. Financing was a partnership of the City of Bridgeport, CHFA, Neighborhood Reinvestment Corps and Low-Income Housing Tax Credits.

The site plan, clustering, envelope and style of the units are intended to be compatible with the some of the nearby Victorian homes that are in the process of being rehabilitated.
