New York City Health and Hospital Corporation-Henry J. Carter Specialty Hospital & Nursing Facility

Geddis Architects was selected as the Associate Architect to Array Architects to bring “culture change” to the architectural design of the new center. This new state-of-the-art building links on a new first floor concourse with the adjacent reconstructed 201 bed North General Hospital to many community destinations. These include a music room, an instructional kitchen, a community performance space,  chapel, and an outdoor garden.

The 164 new bed center, including a 32 bed ventilator unit and bariatric suites on each floor is designed on a modified “household model.” There are decentralized lounges and living rooms with natural light and vista on each floor plus a therapeutic bathing spa.

Each floor has an outdoor porch near the staff station and living room.
